Kenduli Mela is a three-day fair named after the famous poet Jaydev Kenduli. It takes place in mid January during Makar Sankranti . This festival provides opportunities to stumble across many Bauls. It is celebrated on the banks of river Ajay.

Basanta Utsav also known as Holi or Dol Utsav, the festival of colors is celebrated in mid March at Shantiniketan. Rabindranath Tagore pioneered this colorful occasion to welcome spring in Bengal.

Rabindra Jayanti, the birthday of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore is largely celebrated in Shantiniketan in early May.

The students of Visva-Bharati University host the occasion with cultural  programs like poetry, dance and drama, written and composed by Tagore.

 Varsamangal, festival of poems, takes place during monsoon, in the month of July-August. Poetset bewitched by the beauty of nature and compose poems and songs at this time. Cultural shows take place during this time.

Poush Mela, brings an end to the year in Shantiniketan. It is celebrated for three-days in mid December. The main attractions of this fair are the live performances of Bauls(mystic minstrels), Bengali folk music and dance. Bengal’s tribal dance known as Santali also catches a major attraction.
